Hello and Happy New Year, everyone! I’m back from a lovely Christmas and New Year break, ready to get started on 2025.
For the last couple of years I’ve had a word of the year, and going into 2025, I want to do that again as it helped both sum up and shape my thoughts going into the new year.
I don’t make resolutions, as I tend to just make plans and set goals as and when I want and need to throughout the year. But I do like to have a word of the year.
By taking a moment to think about my word of the year and what 2025 might bring, it helps me to focus and feel positive about the coming year.
This year, I’ve chosen the word ‘possibilities’.
In September, my son started secondary school. For the first time since having the children, I have had freedom during my days.
I am no longer needed to be with the kids 24/7, and I am not needed for regular school runs. My days have a different rhythm now, and I’ve spent the past few weeks finding those new routines.
Going into this year, I have more of an idea of how I want and need to spend my time, both in terms of the necessary day to day things and those things that I enjoy doing.
It feels a bit like a blank canvas. Which is where the word possibilities comes in.
The weeks, days and hours are sprawled before me and I am looking forward to working out how best to spend them.
The work that I do here always offers me variety and possibilities, it’s one of the things I love most about it. The community we have is building and strengthening month on month, which offers up more possibilities for things that we can do together.
I do have ongoing medical treatment and appointments, and these are taking a toll on my body, but there are always those possibilities of ways that I can alleviate them. I want to see where those possibilities take me, how they can help me. Exercise, nutrition and wellness will continue to be a priority for me this year, and it’ll be good to try some new things within that.
In work, health and life, I can see potential, opportunities and challenges. Anything is possible, right?
Possibilities. The change-loving optimist in me loves that.
Do you have a word of the year?
Possibilities is a great word! Mine for this year is “rekindle.” Maybe similar to possibilities in that I want to rekindle some of my creativity.
Thanks! Ohh, that’s a great word, have fun!
What a great word!
The possibilities are endless for you! My Word of the year is plodding. I want a quiet year, just plodding along happily. If anything nice happens it’s a bonus! Wishing you all the best for 2025. x
Thanks! I like that one, it feels contented, enjoy x
Happy New Year Jocelyn! That’s a great word for the year I hope there are lots of great possibilities for you. I think mine for this year is connection as I’m hoping to make new friends and strengthen the friendships I already have.
Thanks, and to you! That’s a great word and plan for the year, I hope you enjoy those connections.
I don’t do resolutions either. Possibilities! Love it. It has such optimism. I love words and choose one too. This year my word is vitality!
That’s a great one, love it!
