During the summer months, I like to spend all of my time outside. I like to keep busy making changes out in the garden and tending to it. When the cold starts to seep in, I move into hibernation mode. My thoughts turn to home decor and interiors. Working from home, I spend a lot of my time inside these walls, so each year I like to try to add something new, something simple. This year, I am looking to add splashes of colour, and I have been looking around for products that can help me to do this. I have been inspired, so today I’m sharing 3 easy ways to brighten your home…
Brighten That Flooring
The easiest, fastest and cheapest way to brighten up your flooring is to add a rug. There are many different sizes, shapes, designs and colours out there, so you are bound to find one that suits your needs and complements your current decor.
We have a fairly large kitchen, with brownish grey floor tiles. They are very practical and hard-wearing, and nice and easy to keep clean. They have seen years of mud being tramped in and hundreds of dinners being eaten on it (including the mess of the weaning days!). They have served me well, but I am now looking at them and thinking that they could do with a splash of colour. A rug in our kitchen will brighten it up perfectly.
Brighten Those Walls
Nothing changes the feel of a room faster than by changing the walls.
You can splash on a bright new paint colour, or perhaps go for something a little different, a little special. I can’t imagine anything that could give a room a more distinctive feel than wall murals, have you seen these?
There are so many designs to choose from and they can made to sizes to suit you. You can even arrange for one of your own designs to become a wall mural, how cool is that?!
Brighten With Accessories
Most rooms can be quickly altered by adding a few new accessories.
For example, you could change up your living room’s colour scheme with simple accessories such as curtains, candles and lamps. This kind of change can usually be achieved on any budget, so it’s up to you how much you want to spend to achieve a new, brighter look. I gave our living room a whole new look last winter, as I bought new cushions, throws and lighting in Asda’s sale – so many bargains and lots to choose from.
We tend to keep most of our rooms neutral in walls and floors, allowing us to add in colourful rugs, create a feature wall, or completely change the colour scheme with a few artfully arranged accessories. It means that I can have fun brightening up our home every single time that I hibernate!
What do you do to brighten up your home?
