5 Free Things To Do With The Kids

We’re around the halfway point in the holidays here, so I thought this would be a well-timed post! Today I’m hoping to offer a little inspiration, with 5 free things to do with the kids.

Check out local museums

This one can be a full day out, and a nice way to get to know more about the area you live in.

There are plenty of museums, in both towns and cities, that offer free entry.

You might find a museum about natural history, local wildlife, science, local industry, there are lots of them out there and it can be fun finding out which ones you have near you.

Visit the library

The kids loved doing this when they were little, there was always a visit every school holiday.

This one has the bonus of not only being a free way to spend some time, you also get to take away books…for free!

Then when you’re home, reading the books takes up more time, for free!

The library is the gift that keeps on giving.

Catch up with friends

Nice and easy and a treat for everyone!

Pop round to a friend’s house or have them come to you, for a free way to entertain you all.

There are friends that we like to see every time that a school break rolls around, and I’m sure you’re the same too.

Trip to the park

There’s usually a little bit of green space nearby, so make your way there this week.

You could make it into a nature walk, a bike ride, a picnic, fun at the playground, feed the ducks, take a football, the possibilities are endless.

This is one of those trips that you could make in an hour to break up the day or you could choose to make a full day of it.

Have a ‘fun home day’

This one’s easy and fast to put together.

Think movies, board games, crafts, reading, gaming, getting creative, whatever your kids love to do.

Give the kids choices of threes throughout the day – which of these 3 games shall we play, which of these 3 films shall we watch and so on and get involved and enjoy it all with them. And remember, no matter how old the kids are, they’re never too old to enjoy making a den!

I hope this has given you some ideas to try, have fun.
