With more and more of us working from home, home offices are becoming an important addition to many homes. We need that perfect space to ensure that we can work efficiently and effectively. Today, let us share with you 5 tips for keeping your home office organised.

Choose An Appropriate Space

Before you start to put your home office together, it’s worth taking some time to work out where in your home is going to be best for your office.

You might be fortunate enough to be able to take up a whole room, but if you don’t have a room spare for this, there are still plenty of options.

Many home offices can work well when set up in often under-used spaces, such as under the stairs, large hallways or landings, or in the corner of a room.

Where possible, add shelving or cabinets to make the most of the space available.

Always keep in mind that you need this space to be well organised, so don’t try to cram into an area that is too small for your needs.

Ensure That You Have The Right Set-Up

Right, you have chosen the ideal spot for your office, now it’s time to ensure that you have the right set-up as this will be instrumental in keeping your office organised.

Desks come in many shapes and sizes so take the time to choose the right one for you. You might find that an unused table works well for you, just make sure that you have looked into home office chairs so that you are in a comfortable position to work at it.

Many office chairs can be adjusted to suit your posture, or you may want to look for ones that take up little room to best work in your new space.

When you position your desktop or laptop, do also think about the light in your room. The last thing that you want is glare from your screen all day long.

Use Storage Boxes and Holders

Storage boxes and holders are going to be key to keeping organised.

If you have drawers, use them first and then think about those items that you need to have easily to hand, and then those things that you need once in a while. This will help you to best organise your office as you will want to have those everyday items to be easily accessible.

Use boxes on your shelves and it might be useful to label each of them as you arrange them.

Keep a pen holder on your desk so that you always have a pen and any other stationery you need to hand.

Install A Pin Board Or Grid Square

Pin boards and grid squares are great ways of keeping on top of projects.

Use a spare wall space or hang it right behind your desk.

You can now keep hold of scrap bits of paper, lists, receipts and plans all in one place, making the board handy and practical.

In addition to this practical use, you might want to add some inspirational, sentimental or visionary images or quotes to your board to keep you on track every day.

Minimise The Clutter

It can be tempting to want to keep everything piled up on your desk so that you know where it all is, but to be able to work efficiently, you will want to minimise the clutter.

Utilise those storage boxes and pin boards and then operate a self-imposed clear desk policy.

Arriving at a tidy and clear desk every morning will put you in a better frame of mind to start your day and help you to stay organised consistently.

We hope this has helped you to get a brilliantly organised home office.
