London has plenty of activities for families who want to spend lots of quality time together.

From immersive museums to unique cultural experiences, there are hundreds of things you can do while enjoying each other’s company.

However, if you are visiting from overseas, you might not be aware of all the options available to you.

So, to help you make the most of your time there, we’ve put together this list of eight creative and fun family days out in London you can enjoy this year.

  1. Pinot & Picasso

You can’t get much more creative than producing artwork, so why not try a painting session with London Paint and Sip with Pinot & Picasso?

In London, this unique experience is based in Shoreditch and allows families to have fun together while exploring their artistic side.

Best of all, there is no mess to clean up, like you might have for craft activities at home, and you also get to keep your masterpieces!

  1. Harry Potter at Warner Bros. Studio Tour

If you are family a family who loves the wizarding world of Harry Potter, then the Warner Bros. Studio Tour is an absolute must-visit.

Situated in Leavesden, which is just outside of London, this tour offers an incredible behind-the-scenes look at how these brilliant films were made.

During your time there, you’ll be able to walk through the Great Hall, step onto Platform 9¾, and explore Diagon Alley, all while seeing the original costumes and props from the movies.

Overall, the interactive exhibits and various displays make it an unforgettable experience for anyone who loves the story.

  1. Immersive Theatre Experience

If your children fancy themselves as being the next Ryan Gosling or Margot Robbie, then a terrific thing for them to do would be to enjoy the immersive theatre experience provided by Avora. 

Providing them with an innovative adventure, families enter an intriguing and mysterious world of amazing theatrical sets and compelling sensory experiences, which are complemented by a cast of outstanding actors.

Here, you are not being told a story, you are actually part of it, which will give your kids a taste of what performing arts is like.

  1. Lego Café

Do your little ones love Lego? Then, they will be in their element at the Brickies Club in Wokenham.

To get there, you’ll have to travel an hour out of London. However, on arrival, they will be able to let their imagination run riot to create towers, rocket ships or whatever their minds conceive. 

The cafe runs 90-minute sessions, during which time adults can enjoy a coffee and treat if they don’t want to build anything.

If you can’t make it to Wokenham, head on over to the Lego store in Leicester Square. It accommodates a Minifigure Factory that enables you to design and construct your own mini-figures.

Alternatively, make your way over to Legoland.

  1. Family Cooking Class

Food is one of the best ways to bring families together, so why not take the opportunity to share a cooking experience?

Across London, there are a number of cooking schools you can attend for a day that offers family-orientated sessions. They include Made in Hackney, Le Petit Corden Bleu, and the Jamie Oliver Cookery School. 

In addition, through a simple Google search you’ll find classes based around particular genres of cuisine, such as Greek, Thai, Mexican and Indian, as well as desserts.

As well as providing families with fabulous ways to bond together, they also enable you to enjoy your delicious creations.

  1. Enjoy a Musical Jam Session

What do The Corrs, Jonas Brothers, Kings of Leon, and Sister Sledge all have in common?

Well, they are all bands, of course, whose members are related to each other.

If this inspires you to make music with your family, why not head to studios such as WeJam? Whilst there, you will be able to record some tunes on the instruments they offer and even cut your own record which you’ll be able to take back home to listen to later.

Overall, it is a very fun experience that is just as much suited to families with a lot of musical talent as to those who don’t have any!

  1. Science Museum Workshop

Should you want the kids to have an educational experience while having fun together, then a great place to do this is at The Science Museum.

It is free to enter, and you’ll find plenty of wonderful exhibits, including the Making of the Modern World, Exploring Space, and The Energy Hall, that should pique their interest.

If your children are between the ages of 5 and 12, make sure you take them to the fabulous Wonderlab gallery. It has an excellent selection of interactive workshops designed for budding engineers and inventors, where they can conduct experiments like robotics and coding.

  1. Outdoor Adventure at Battersea Park

For families who enjoy spending time outdoors, Battersea Park is a fantastic place to visit because this large green space offers a brilliant mix of adventure, creativity and relaxation.

Over there you’ll find interactive playgrounds, a children’s zoo, and pedal boat rides on the lake, as well as the Go Ape treetop adventure course, which challenges older kids to tackle zip lines, high ropes and treetop crossings.
