It’s a bookish day today, as I introduce next month’s book readalong, always one of my absolute favourite #BringBackPaper activities!
If you’ve yet to join in with one of these readalongs, let me tell you a little more about it and tempt you to join us.
The book readalong is an easy activity to get involved with as it’s like an online book club. I will always share the book here, usually a week or so before the month that we will be reading it in, to give you time to get your copy. Then the #BringBackPaper online book club is open to absolutely everyone, so do feel free to come and readalong with us.
The book readalong is a great way to read something that you might not have picked up yourself, and I try to change up the genres from month to month to keep things interesting.
I have chosen a new book for August for us. It’s quite a different choice to last month’s read, and the blurb drew me in straight away so let’s see how this one goes.

August Book Readalong
So onto August’s book to readalong with and it’s this, The Dressmaker’s Gift by Fiona Valpy
A little about this month’s book read-along:
Paris, 1940. With the city occupied by the Nazis, three young seamstresses go about their normal lives as best they can. But all three are hiding secrets. War-scarred Mireille is fighting with the Resistance; Claire has been seduced by a German officer; and Vivienne’s involvement is something she can’t reveal to either of them.
Two generations later, Claire’s English granddaughter Harriet arrives in Paris, rootless and adrift, desperate to find a connection with her past. Living and working in the same building on the Rue Cardinale, she learns the truth about her grandmother―and herself―and unravels a family history that is darker and more painful than she ever imagined.
In wartime, the three seamstresses face impossible choices when their secret activities put them in grave danger. Brought together by loyalty, threatened by betrayal, can they survive history’s darkest era without being torn apart?
The book readalong is really simple to join in with, you just need to get yourself a copy of the book and read it at some during August. Let us know that you’re joining in by dropping by the Facebook group to chat about it, or tweet or Instagram your book with the hashtags #BringBackPaper #BookReadalong. If you’re not on social media, then it matters not, you can join in and not tell the world what you’re up to!

I am anxious to read the August book. Although last month’s book (Away with Penguins) is still making me smile.
Wasn’t it good? I loved it, I have already pre-ordered the next one! August’s read looks completely different, looking forward to getting started on it. Great to have you joining in, as always.
I’m in! Looking forward to reading together. Feel better!!!
Excellent! Happy reading, and thanks!
I enjoyed the DRESSMAKER’S GIFT. I think the three main characters are strong, talented, and very brave. It was a good read. I’m already looking forward to your Sept. selection. (I too am still smiling after reading last month’s book AWAY WITH THE PENGUINS)
I’m about halfway through so far and really enjoying it. I agree with you, strong main characters, it’s interesting seeing their stories unfold.
Last month’s read was so lovely, wasn’t it? I hadn’t expected it to make me smile quite as much as it did, a story that will stay with me.
I love choosing the next books, will give it some thought!
