My baby girl turns 8 tomorrow. To celebrate, she had a Go Ape party yesterday with her friends, over at Cannock Chase.
Our first Go Ape experience was back in April when we visited Southampton’s Go Ape experience and both of the kids absolutely adored it. So much so that Boo decided that she wanted to have a Go Ape birthday party this year, and the lovely folks over at Go Ape were happy to oblige!
Go Ape is set in one of my favourite places to visit, Birches Valley in Cannock Chase, a place we’ve enjoyed taking the kids to since they were small. The Go Ape cabin is easy to find near to the car park, cafe and toilets, so all amenities are on hand.
We were given clear safety briefs to go through with the kids (and adults!) before moving on to the Tree Top Junior adventure. There the staff were just fantastic at ensuring everyone was safe and for their adventure, whilst keeping the fun going and giving extra attention to the birthday girl. She also had a ‘Happy Birthday Boo’ message on a blackboard there and got to wear a Cheeky Monkey sticker! Harnessed up, a small course on the ground was walked to ensure all were comfortable with it, before they went up into the trees. We had five over 6’s and three under 6’s going up, so some adults went up to go round with the younger ones and we also had a couple of adults on the ground.
They had an hour’s fun up there, and they made the most of it. There are two courses to go round, both culminating in a zip line, which was a firm favourite! Boo was in her element having fun in the trees surrounded by her friends. The staff were brilliant at checking everyone was OK and on the couple of occasions that the children were nervous, they got straight up there with them and helped them through it, offering loads of praise and support. It ensured that they all kept on going and they all finished feeling pleased with themselves and having had fun.
All exhilarated, we moved onto our nearby shelter where we lunched and sang Happy Birthday to the birthday girl. I think on a sunny day the shelter wouldn’t be needed, but it was nice to have it on an October day with our packed lunches.
We then took advantage of our beautiful surroundings and went off on a forest adventure together. The kids all know each other well and get on brilliantly together so they had a great time den-building, finding the Gruffalo, climbing and running free!
Boo had the best time, she was so happy! Go Ape was just perfect for her birthday party, offering her that mix of excitement and the great outdoors, all with her closest friends. It’s one I’m sure she’ll always remember. Thanks, Go Ape!

That looks like so much fun! What a great place to have a party!
The kids are a lot braver than I am. You would not get me up there. hehehe x
They absolutely loved it! Ah, you see I had to stay down on the ground to take the photos 😉 x
Go ape is a great experience, I know my kids would love it, so far we have only tried on holiday in France. #TriedTested
It was brilliant, the kids all loved it.
A Go Ape birthday party is a great idea. We haven’t been to Go Ape but we’ve done a similar activity at Centerparcs.

My daughter loved it!
We tried Go Ape recently, and had an amazing day – I didn’t even realise that a party there was an option! We will definitely be looking into this for our next special occasion. Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
