Yes, as promised, March is book swap month! In case you’re not familiar with it all, this is part of my #BringBackPaper activities and challenges this year, which you can read all about here.
I have run book swaps before, and as the happy recipient of a surprise book, I can confirm that it’s a lot of fun! I like selecting my book to send almost as much as I do receiving a totally unknown quantity. It’s led me to read books I would not have chosen, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them. It’s also a nice way to get books you’ve appreciated back out into the world. This isn’t about going out and buying a brand new book to send to someone, though of course you can do that if you want to, this is about sending a pre-loved book on to someone in the hope that they enjoy it as much as you did.
If you’ve done this before, you’ll know how it works, though I am changing it a little this time round, and I hope it makes it more appealing to you..
To get involved, you’ll need to email me at [email protected] with the following information:
Your name and postal address
Your favourite 3 genres
Your least favourite genre
Simple! All swaps are for fiction titles only.
As I’m sure you can appreciate, I can’t guarantee to pair you up with someone with the same preferences and the idea behind the swap is still that you receive a pot luck book that perhaps you wouldn’t have picked up yourself. That’s a big part of the concept behind it. But, this should mean I can try to pair you with readers with similar tastes and the swap may be more in your regular reading vein, and at the very least, you get a chance to say what you really don’t want to receive! No guarantees, as I say, but I will endeavour not to pair you people who read totally the opposite things to you – could be setting myself a tricky challenge there, I know!
So are you up for it? It takes place all throughout March, so as long as books are sent this month, you’ve plenty of time to email me and get involved. Happy swapping!
Oh, and if you’re on Pinterest, do follow me there as I do like to Pin papery things!
