It’s that time of year when I start setting myself up ready for next year. I like to plan ahead and get my bullet journal ready for the following year around about now. It means I then don’t have to do anything with it over the holidays and I’m all set to go when the new year rolls around.
This year, as always, I’ve stopped and thought about how I’d like the journal to work for me.
I always do his when I’m setting it up for a new year, and I am then flexible throughout the year and change things as and when I want to.
My starting point is looking back over the past year, how I set that one up, the spreads that I used and those that I didn’t.
I’ll then think about changes I’d like to make, and those things that I’d like to focus on and include going forward.

I’ve got myself another one of these dot grid journals, as I’ve used them a few times now and wouldn’t have any others now. They come in lots of different colours, so I like to get a different one each year. It’s nice to have a fresh start every January and fun to choose a new colour each time.
For 2025, I want to keep my monthly overview pages as they help me to focus on the month ahead, plan things out and pause for a moment afterwards to pick out the highlights.
My daily lists and random lists are of course continuing, I wouldn’t be without them!
I no longer need any health and fitness spreads, or book spreads, as I have separate journals for those now.

I’ve decided I want to track a few other things. I’ve started with an annual overview, and the plan is to pop something fun to do in every month of the year so that we have lovely things to look forward to over the coming months. They can be big or small, I think it’ll be good to fill those boxes in in January.
I’ve also added spreads for gratitude, chores and spending. These are new for this year, though I’ve done similar things from time to time over the years.
I love gratitude trackers, as I think they prompt you to stop and pay attention to the good stuff. The chores log is to help me stay on top of everything, and I do like crossing stuff off so I’ll find that encouraging too. Then the spending log is to help me reduce spendings and increase savings.
You can have a closer look here at every spread, as this week’s video over on the #bringbackpaper channel is all about my bujo setup for 2025.
What do you think?
If you’d like some tips on getting started with a bullet journal, I shared more when I first started journaling.
Do you keep a bullet journal? If you do, are there any new spreads you’re going for next year?
