The Creepiest Valentine’s Day Card Ever?

Little Man loves his arts and crafts, so when I suggested last week that we make a Valentine’s card for his beloved big sister, he jumped at the chance. Never mind that he hasn’t a clue what Valentine’s Day is, it was an opportunity to get the glue out and get creative! Sometimes I just give him the supplies and paper and he designs to his heart’s content, and then at other times, I give him a bit more direction. So I drew him a heart outline and then suggested he continue the card himself.

It must be handed to him, he really concentrated on this one, as he tends to when he’s getting his craft on. He carefully selected his colours and materials, and you can probably just see a glimpse there of the wide range of options available to him.

But what did he go for, after thinking it all through? Black and then googly eyes. I mean, why not? What says ‘love’ better than that combination?

Thoughts, anyone?

The Husband reeled back at it and muttered something about it being quite sinister, but Boo? Boo absolutely loves it! ‘For me?’ she cried, reaching lovingly for her little brother, desperate to hug and thank him, and he adored basking in his crafty glory. A precious sibling moment that made me so proud of both of them, if I averted my gaze from the card…

Thanks for linking up with #MagicMoments

  2. Next time we meet, we must arrange a crafting activity for the three of them (I’d include my youngest, but to be honest all he wants to do is stick things down in a random fashion for a few minutes!) I love Little Man’s concentration. I think the card is fab 🙂

    1. Good idea! Little Man really does concentrate on any arts/crafts things, he amazes me as his attention span is not great with anything else! Thank you 🙂 x

  3. Hi Jocelyn,
Lovely to come over to your blog. The post title caught my attention and I just had to see what the card looked like! I LOVE it 🙂 hahaha what a wonderful card full of googlie eyes. It reminds me of the cards my son used to make, always a little ‘off the wall’ but I think it’s cool to be different. Who wants a card like everyone else…not me! xx

  4. I think it’s quite lovely, and his sister adores it, as you said. At the end of the day, it’s the thought that counts. Perhaps when they’re older they’ll pull it out of their memory box and have a great laugh about it 🙂

  5. Lol, bless him! It looks like he worked really hard on that card and it does look great, though I agree a little creepy. I love seeing what children will create on their own.
    Thanks for sharing #LetKidsBeKids
