For this month’s Papery peep linky, I thought I’d share my current reading pile with you.
So I’ve a few to get stuck into, which I always like. When I have a fair few, like this, I tell myself that I can’t buy any more until I’ve at least read half of them, but as it’s my birthday in a couple of weeks, I really feel that that’ll be going out the window!
I got the Mr Darcy Takes a Wife, based on a mention of it by a My Fictional World linker, so am intrigued to find out what that’s like. Similarly, I had a chat on Twitter about Camilla Lackberg books, and have now read a couple, am currently reading The Stonecutter by her, and have these ready to read, too. The Forget-Me-Not Sonata was my #BringBackPaper April book swap, so a totally random addition to my reading pile, and it does look really good. And then I’ve had a couple passed on to me and picked up others that I fancy. Other than Lackberg and Cornick, they are all by authors that I’ve not read before.
I see a pile like this and see entire new worlds and stories just itching to envelop me. When I have several new books to read, I struggle to choose which ones to read next, as I want to read them all!
OK, and you know how I said I try not to buy more. Well, I wrote this post on Monday, it’s now Tuesday evening, and I might just have bought a few things this afternoon! They were bargains, so I literally could not avoid it!
I’ve just recently bought a slow cooker, so this book at £3.99 was impossible to resist, I’d seen Birdsong recommended by Emily in My Fictional World linky, and had been keeping an eye out for it, so had to grab it for £1! And then I’d been on the lookout for a nice gardening journal, and this one is gorgeous, with tabs and stickers throughout to help me organise everything, and it was only £2.99 – I love it and would have gladly paid more, but hey, I’m happy with my bargain 🙂
Have you read any of these? What are you reading at the moment?
If you’d like to know more about my #BringBackPaper series, here’s the launch, and then read on 🙂
Theres nothing I love more than a pile of books ( my children aside of course
Of course 😉 I’m totally with you x
A great selection and I have a few of those on my bookshelves to read. I am currently reading ‘The Goddess and the Thief’ by Essie Fox and really enjoying it!
Thanks, nice to know I’m in great company, too. Not read that one, so will look out for it, thanks x
Birdsong is brilliant, so that purchase is completely justified!
Yes, I really had no choice…!
I’m currently reading Longbourn by Jo Baker. It is Pride and Prejudice set from the angle of the servants and was recommended to me by a French friend. I may tackle it in French afterwards to help my language skills. I agree with Amy, Birdsong is great. I don’t know any of the others from your pile but I reckon I’d enjoy The Plantagenets.
That sounds like something I’d enjoy, so thanks for sharing. I’ll just read it in English, I think! I’m keen to read Birdsong as quite a lot of people have said it’s great – can’t wait!
I find reading a book in French that I have already read in English is a great way to learn French – that said I gave up on A Christmas Carol and found Animal Farm really hard. However Road Dahl’s kids’ book are brilliant to read in French 🙂
I will have to take your word for it!
Ohh my please can I borrow The Plantagenets after you I wonder!? What a pile, mine is fairly similar too!! Xx
Yes, of course you can! Might not be for a while, but I’ll send it on as soon as it’s read 🙂
Book Pile posts are amongst my favourite types 🙂 – I haven’t read any of these except Birdsong which is about as good as WWI novels written by people who didn’t experience it get! 🙂
I can imagine! High praise indeed. I might have to move it to the top of the pile then, thanks 🙂
Oh, what a great pile! I enjoyed the Ann Cleeves book 🙂 I’ve just finished the Seven Deadly Wonders that Nicola suggested… A fun, if somewhat contrived, story! So far, I have 25 boxes of books waiting to be shipped from the UK 🙂
Oh, the anticipation! How exciting to have them all coming 🙂
I am satrting to read Camila Lackberg. Just on chapter 2-3. So far so good =)
Oh, fab 🙂 Which one are you reading?
