I’ve bought a few crafty items for the children. They’re keeping us occupied and very happy, and I wanted to tell you all about this one in particular, as we just love it!
I ordered the Djeco Light Clay Critters from Cr8tive Kids, having bought Djeco before and been impressed with the quality, and these just looked so appealing. The website tells us:
Djeco Light Clay Critters is a fantastic creative light modelling clay kit from the Djeco art and craft range, perfect for the younger children.
Djeco Light Clay Critters uses the colourful cardboard pieces which can be stuck into the naturally drying modelling clay to create enjoyable characters.
The light clay included in this modelling kit is easy to work with so young children can easily make shapes and it air dries within 24 hours.
The Djeco Light Clay Critters kit includes 2 coloured pots of air dry modelling clay, 61 colourful card pieces and full step by step instructions all beautifully presented in Djeco packaging.
I’m not going to lie – I was as excited as Boo to get going with this kit!
As I’ve come to expect from Djeco products, the box contained superb materials and easy to follow instructions…
And then I’ll let the photos tell their own story…
We have so much fun with this! The clay itself is really light, almost mousse-like, not like the play-doh feel that I’d expected. The critters are all very cute, and every page of the booklet shows you how to make them all. Of course, it’s all reusable, and the clay stays soft and light, so these have been remade more times than I can count now! Boo likes to follow the instructions, so enjoys making the animals in the booklet, but we’re also been having fun creating our own little beasts. I cannot recommend them enough.
There are several more of these light clay kits, too, so I suspect we’ll be getting more at some point..!
Have you tried these before? Are they something your kids might enjoy (or you!)?
Loving that she is dressed the same as her creations. This set looks really good, suitable for a range of different age groups, I must see if I can find them in Amazon
Ha ha – hadn’t spotted that! Yes, it’d work across a big age range. Lots of fun 🙂
It looks like a lovely kit. Is it only reusable if you put it back in the pot afterwards rather than leaving it to air dry?
I’d guess so, yes. We’ve popped ours back in the pots, and so it’s fine. It is lovely 🙂
We have come to love Djeco products, they are superb quality
They really are. Just discovered them in the last few months and cannot fault them.
This looks like a fab activity for a rainy day. Play dough is good, but this looks like it would captivate the kids for a little longer. Thanks for the tip hon #letkidsbekids
Yes, it certainly does Boo (and me..!)
These look like lots of fun. I’ve not heard of them before, but I think I might have to get some as I am certain BB would love it as he adores playdoh!
Thanks for linking #LetKidsBeKids
Oh, get some! I’m certain you won’t be disappointed – Boo loves hers!

This is just the sort of thing my 4yo would absolutely love. I must see if you can get them here… #LetKidsBeKids
Oh, hope you can. I love it!
These look like they’d make a nice after school activity, will look them up.
Oh, definitely. They’re lovely 🙂
They look fun. I think the instruction booklet is helpful for little ones
Yes, Boo liked following that, before she hit her creativity stride!
Oh I love it! Such a fun idea and great for me as not much ‘talent’ required! Adding it to LP’s Birthday list x
I’m the same! It’s great fun 🙂
