Boo and I haven’t had a girls trip since Little Man arrived. That’s quite a while. Yes, we have time together when he naps where we get up to our own activities, but it’s not really the same. Of course, until Little Man came along, every day, every outing was a ‘girls trip’, but I wanted to have a little special one on one time with my daughter, so we had some fun together yesterday.
She wanted to go to the cinema. She’s been a few times before, with the Husband and with her grandparents, but not with me, so I was looking forward to it as much as she was! We went to see Frozen, and I’d definitely recommend it. I’m always wary of Disney offerings, as they tend to favour some sort of parental abandonment storyline, which invariably has Boo in floods of tears, but all was well with this one! OK, so the parents did die at the start (not really a spoiler there – you knew it was coming!) but it was glossed over quite quickly and I’m not sure that Boo even caught that storyline fully. After that is was magical, funny and with a lovely soundtrack. We giggled throughout and I suspect I’ll be buying this one for her when it’s out on DVD. If you’re looking for something to to take the kids to this month, this is a good one 🙂
She was totally enraptured as soon as the lights went down – even throughout the adverts! And around halfway through the film, she decided it would be nicest to watch it from my lap, so we had cuddles, too 🙂
Back home, Daddy and Little Man had been having their own fun, but were happy to have us home, especially as we’d stopped off to buy some cakes for us all on the way back. Boo thoroughly enjoyed our trip, and I felt great having had a little mother, daughter time.
We went to see it the other week and really enjoyed it too. I liked the strong female characters.
Yes, I said the exact same thing to my husband when I got back! Really enjoyed it.
I quite fancy this-I haven’t been to the cinema with my daughter for such a long time as she’s always gone with Daddy. This may well be our Christmas filmic treat 🙂
Oh yes, do go. It’s a lovely film, and I so loved getting that one on one time yesterday 🙂
There is something special about doing one on one trips with the kids x
It was just so lovely 🙂
LOVE trips to the cinema with my daughter, it’s such a lovely indulgent way to spend time together! Love pic of your little girl enraptured! #WhatsTheStory
Thank you – she loves the cinema. It was great for me to be able to take her – definitely a treat we’ll be repeating in the new year 🙂
How lovely – it sounds like a really special afternoon together and a great opportunity for Boo and Little Man to each have some quality one-on-one time with one of their parents 🙂
Thank you. It was great, though Little Man slept through much of his one-on-one time!
Always worth making time for special days out one on one. She looks engrossed! I’ve heard good things about this film 🙂
Definitely – we’ll be doing it again soon, as we both enjoyed it. Yes, great film – we’ll be looking out for it on DVD!
It must have been so nice for the two of you to go out together. She looks mesmerised by Frozen in that photo and it sounds like you both had fun. Thank you so much for sharing with #whatsthestory
It was lovely, thank you – she was absolutely mesmerised 🙂 Thanks for hosting x
Oh that’s lovely hon. So nice to spend time with just one of the kids when you have more… I think four is a great age, as they’re still easily pleased and a trip to the cinema is such a big deal to them. Might have to check this film out over the holidays #MagicMoments
Oh, you should go – lovely film. We did have a good time, and yes, 4’s a lovely age 🙂
How lovely! I think it is important to spend time separately as well as a family. I can’t wait to do this kind of thing with my little lady when she gets older!
It was great to do – yes, it’ll soon come round!
I’ve been thinking of taking my two, but am a bit worried the 11 year old will find it too young. Gets a bit tricky at this age!
I didn’t find it too young! Was enjoyable – a family film, I think. A little easier with a 4 year-old, though!
You are bringing them up nicely 🙂 That’s a sweet thing to have done for both of you. These moments she’ll remember when she’s older with great fondness.
Thank you. Such a lovely comment, and I really hope you’re right. Love to think we’re creating stacks of happy memories for her x
What a lovely thing to do together! I’m so glad you loved Frozen. I want to see that too! #MagicMoments
Thanks – yes, go see it. A fun film 🙂
Girls’ days out are the best and I think the older they get the more fun it is. I have so many ideas of more things we can do when they get older. 🙂 #MM
Yes, there are just so many possibilities, aren’t there? Lovely to do 🙂
Awww that sounds so lovely x
It was, thanks x
It’s so lovely to get some one on one time. I used to take my oldest to the cinema quite often in the UK, it was our thing, bit it’s not so easy here… Must get to see Frozen though 🙂 Glad you had such a lovely day! #WhatstheStory #MagicMoments
It was great to do, and I’m sure we’ll do it again soon. Frozen is definitely worth a watch 🙂
what a fantastic girlie trip! i so need to do this with my daughter!!
thanks for linking up with #MagicMoments xxx
Thanks – hope you get to do it soon 🙂 Thanks for hosting #MagicMoments x
We went to see Frozen this weekend too. We loved it and I loved that it was a bit different from the usual love story you see in Disney films.
Yes, it was different and loved the main characters. It was a lot of fun – glad you enjoyed it, too 🙂
That one on one time must be all the more special now! I’m looking forward to Lucas being old enough to go the cinema, we love our films. I’m glad you enjoyed your girls trip!
Oh, it was so lovely! Want to go again this weekend! Thank you x
I was just talking about this film with my husband this evening…partially wondering if it was any good. Now I know we need to take the kids. (Problem is there are no big cinemas near us showing kids films….)
Oh, it is good! Hope you can find a cinema 🙂
You can’t beat one-on-one time with the big sibling once the younger ones come along, and we LOVE the cinema too! Thanks for the recommendation for Frozen, my 7 year old is desperate to see it too, so I’ll have to get a date in the diary for it.
Popping over from #MagicMoments
Yes, do see it. I’d happily go again, and I’m a fair bit older than 7 😉
Oh, we are planning to see it at the weekend, part of “time with our little girl” before baby makes an appearance :-). Linking in from Magic Moments.
Oh, lovely – hope you all enjoy it as much as we did x
