House Plants To Improve Your Wellbeing

Let’s talk about house plants to improve your wellbeing.

I love house plants, love them! I’ve chatted about them here before and I have quite a few dotted around my home.

For me, there are so many layers of enjoyment that I get from keeping house plants. I like to choose new plants, learn about them, propagate new ones, and I like using them as a kind of décor. In addition to all of this, I am aware that they are actually good for us. It’s a lovely bonus.

There have been many studies into the benefits of keeping indoor plants.

We understand that we have fresher air within our homes as they can help to eliminate toxins.

But did you also know that they have been shown to reduce blood pressure and reduce fatigue and relieve headaches? That’s quite a win from simply dotting a few plants around your home.

Then there are the many psychological boosts that plants give us.

Homes filled with house plants can lead to an improved mood, reduced stress levels, increased productivity and attention span.

I enjoy having them around me, taking care of them lifts my mood and it’s fun to see them growing and flourishing.

There’s something so relaxing about tending to them, re-potting them as they thrive and seeing them around our home.

I think adding a few plants to your home is such an easy win for your wellbeing as it’s easy to do and lovely to see.

If house plant owning is new to you (or you’re like me and you just fancy getting a new plant!), you might want to start with some of these.

These plants are good for air quality and all are quite easy to keep and low maintenance.

My top tip when getting a new plant is to take a moment to read the label or Google it’s favourite conditions. This will enable you to position it in the best place in your home, and then you can just keep an eye on it there. If it doesn’t seem to be thriving, you can always move it to a new spot and see how it fares.

It’s also worth checking how child and pet friendly a plant is, if that’s a concern.

There are links to every plant included below, all from my preferred online house plant seller.

Snake Plant

The snake plant thrives in bright, indirect light and only needs to be watered twice a month until winter, then once a month as temperatures drop.

Spider Plant

Spider plants thrive in various settings, from living rooms and kitchens to offices and bathrooms, making them easy to own and look after.

Peace Lily

The peace lily is a natural air purifier, removing indoor pollutants for healthier living spaces, and thrives in low to bright indirect sunlight.

Philodendron

The Philodendron is ideal for a beginner plant enthusiast. The green leaves form a heart-like shape and are a beautiful plant in any home.

Golden Pothos

The Golden Pothos is a great choice for a trailing plant. It thrives with minimal care and can do well in a range of light conditions, only needing to be watered when the soil is dry.

You might want to treat yourself to a little bundle to get your collection started, or finished if you’re only looking for a few. This air purifying plant bundle would be perfect for that.

I shared tips for looking after your house plants here, to help get you started.

Are you a fan of house plants? Let me know if this gets you to treat yourself to a few, or if you already love them, which ones are your favourites? I can always be tempted to get a few more!
