It’s the birthday week!
OK, not every day is a birthday, but it feels like it, so that’s how I’m seeing it.
Today’s the Husband’s birthday so we have the day off together, and then on Friday it’s mine so again we have the day together.
The three days in between will see me catching up with a different friend each day, so it’s a week of lovely things for me.
Last week I had my annual mammogram and two years ago yesterday was the date of my surgery, the date that I became NED, though of course I didn’t get that confirmed at the time. So in my head, last week was about dealing with all of that stuff, this week is about parking it and celebrating and having fun.
I’ll be turning 48 this week, and honestly, I am delighted to be.
Every year is a privilege, I’m happy to be hitting another year older, and I’m overlooking the wrinkles and sags it’s creating!
Looking back over this past year, it’s been a good one.
We’ve had our trip to California, we all went to the Eras tour, we had a Christmas mini break together, then had an Easter break with my brother’s family, we’ve been to several concerts, theatre shows and sporting events, and I’ve spent countless hours walking, reading, exercising, chatting with friends, and relaxing. Work has been good, my boy’s settled brilliantly into secondary school, my girl’s smashing Year 10, and I’ve been busy trip planning for our holiday this summer.
Will 48 be as kind to me as 47 was? Honestly, the bar is super low. Just don’t die, and live to see 49, and I am very happy! Perspective changes everything, so I’m going to see what this next year brings and live in all of the moments I’m offered.
Today’s plans will definitely involve steak and cake for the Husband, and I’ve a feeling Friday’s plans will involve books. Because, of course.
Bring on the birthday week!
