Today is World Calligraphy Day, will you be joining in?
When I heard about World Calligraphy Day from Manuscript, I knew that I needed to share all about it. Aside from the fact that I know so many of you love our papery pursuits, it was that little shove that I needed.
I shared An Introduction to Modern Calligraphy a few months ago and I have to admit, I have not kept it up. The Husband still makes time to practice his hand lettering, but I haven’t been – I must try harder!
It is so beautiful, and I find it mesmerising to watch. One of my pen friends, Lauren, sent me a letter recently with a gorgeous envelope as she’d tried her hand at calligraphy. It did make me want to get back into it, and now I have the perfect reason to, World Calligraphy Day.
I have received some stationery from Silvine and Manuscript to get me back into the swing of things. And it has worked, it’s actually got me writing again. Boo has also decided that calligraphy is for her, and so I have now lost that Manuscript pen to her! It’s fun to all be trying it together, it’s one of those hobbies that you can all take up and all from the comfort of your own home. If this is something that you have yet to try but have always fancied giving it a go, today is the day. Try it, try it today and do let me know how you get on.
You should also look out for competitions running to celebrate World Calligraphy Day on social media today as who wouldn’t want the chance to win lovely stationery? (I always make the assumption that EVERYONE loves stationery). If you’re in Birmingham, you could go to the Pen Museum as they are running calligraphy events throughout the day.
Right, I am now off to try to win stationery and spend a little time writing again. If you’re joining in, have fun!
Disclosure: I received a stationery gift in connection with World Calligraphy Day
