Let The Festivities Commence!

I’ve done that thing again this year. The thing that I always do, every single year. I plan the kids’ gifts, I get them early and wrap them. Then I see just one more thing that I know they’d love and get that. Then I see something else and buy that too. And before I know it, I haven’t saved any money, I haven’t reined things in, I’ve got carried away! Every year!

Little Man and Boo have gifts that I am excited to see them open. I think I am going to be more excitable than them on Christmas morning. I have also got a few surprises for the Husband and so I am looking forward to seeing his reaction. It is also Herbie’s first Christmas, so naturally he has a Santa sack and a variety of presents.

I am ready for the Christmas break now. Don’t get me wrong, I still have quite a bit of work to do before everyone breaks up tomorrow and lots of cleaning and household stuff to sort, but I just want us to all finish now and enjoy the break. Everyone is full of a cold (apart from me, so it does feel somewhat inevitable that I will soon be struck down) and I can see that the kids are looking tired now. I want to watch Christmas films and play board games all day long with them and lose myself to being unsure what day we’re actually on.

We have quite a few things planned in before Christmas, and then not so much afterwards. That is just the way I like it. I like to have unplanned days where we can take things slowly or go out on an adventure if the mood takes us. The Husband is having the longest Christmas break that he’s had since the kids were born, so it will be great to all be together for the festivities.

Looking ahead, I don’t like January, I hate the post-Christmas return to work and school, but this time I should be fine. With Disney World to look forward to in February, I have the perfect thing to lift my January mood!

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone for reading and supporting me this year. I love hearing from you and I know from the messages that I get, particularly on Instagram, how many of you have enjoyed Herbie’s antics this year. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and I will see you on the other side…

Sharing is caring!
