I’ve had a few chats recently, both online and in real life, with people who are keen to read more this year.
It’s certainly a goal that I support! I love to read and I can ramble on for a long time about all of the benefits that reading brings.
For me, it’s an ingrained habit, but I know that this isn’t the case for everyone. Along with sharing a few other tips on getting into the habit of reading, my top recommendation would be to get yourself several books in ready. Ready for the reading habit to grab you.
Imagine that you’ve finally found your reading groove and you are loving it. You are reading at bedtime every day to unwind, or perhaps your commute has been brightened by a book daily, and then you find yourself finishing a book and having nothing to read next.
I say ‘imagine’ as this feels like an impossibility for me as I do have a few books, but it is super frustrating when you are at last getting into reading. This is why I am working with Books2Door this month, and shouting from the rooftops about the joys of a book box set.
Books2Door have sent myself and the kids a series of books each and we are all very happy about this!
I have Stephanie Garber’s Caraval series, Boo has Ally Carter’s Gallagher Girls series and Little Man has Matt and Tom Oldfield’s Classic Football Heroes books.
I love getting books in box sets, for both myself and the kids. You find yourself wanting to leap right into the next one each time you finish a book and it can be a good way to get children reading if you find a series that they love.
For example, my daughter recently flew through The Maze Runner series and absolutely loved it. She loved having the next book ready and she devoured them!
Me, I tend to like waiting until a series is complete before buying the books in it as I hate having to wait for the next one. Of course, this has caught me out many times and still does, but if I can, I like to buy the complete series.
Box sets are a great way to try a new author or genre, they mean you always have a next book on hand (until that last one…and then you really should ensure you have another box set on hand!), and when you find one that you enjoy, you will just want to keep on reading and reading through all of the books.
I can spend ages looking at all of the books available on the Books2Door website. They have books for all ages and all tastes, so if you are looking to read more this year or if you’re like me and can never resist book bargains, go check it out!
You can shop by age, price, or category and they have bestsellers and popular buys sections too. You won’t struggle to find something suitable for all the family to read.
Books2Door also have a book points scheme, which rewards you for buying books. Like the new books aren’t reward enough! You can qualify for cashback on future orders, get free delivery, there’ s a refer a friend option and you can earn points for social media sharing too. I do like a bookish perk!
To help to get you reading lots of books this year, I do have an exclusive discount code for Books2Door, so use READINGRESIDENCE10 at the checkout for 10% off now and stock up on books for all of the family. And get those book points too!
Which books series do you have your eye on at the moment?
