Slow-Cooker Pulled Pork Recipe

I’ve recently got myself a slow-cooker. The very first thing that my husband requested was pulled pork, so I searched around for some recipes and used the most straightforward one that I could find. It was nice, but still felt like a bit of a faff to prepare, we had way too much, and the coating on the pork was a little strong for the children’s tastes. And so I made my own up, that feeds the 4 of us perfectly and is really easy…

slow cooker pulled pork

Ingredients:
0.7kg Pork shoulder/leg/any joint
1 Chicken Stock Cube
150ml water
1 tsp sugar (heaped)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions:
– Boil the kettle. Pop one chicken stock cube into 150ml of boiling water
– Mix up all the sugar, salt, pepper and cinnamon in a bowl, ready for coating.
– Cut any fat off your pork joint.
– Cover the pork in your coating
– Place pork into the slow cooker, and then add the chicken stock
– Cook on low for 8 hours

So simple! It’s prepared in 5 minutes and then you can leave it to do it’s thing all day long. We have ours as part of a roast dinner, but on baps is popular, too. This makes the pork just fall apart, and it tastes delicious. You can then add whatever extra sauces you like for individual family preferences!

  1. This sounds nice and much more simple than the way we usually make it! The recipe we use involves marinating overnight, which is all a bit of a hassle really – I can’t be bothered with all that since having the baby!
We recently discovered a slow cooker gammon recipe on This Mummy’s blog, which is so simple you wouldn’t believe and it tasted amazing too, I’d definitely recommend it, assuming you like gammon x

That does sound a hassle – this takes me minutes so I’m a big fan! Ah, you see I don’t like gammon! My husband loves it, though, so I suppose I’d best look!

  2. Ooooh, that’s a nice and easy recipe. Hubby would love that! Just added the pork to my shopping list, will surprise him tomorrow! x

  3. Oh wow, this sounds good. Bookmarking this recipe – a few days ago I said we should try and make pulled pork at home after having it at a friends BBQ 🙂

  4. Oh i absolutely love pulled pork but have never been sure how to approach it at home as thought it’d involve an overnight process.. Didn’t even think about using my slow cooker! Mine’s been packed away ready for some Autumn casseroles but may need to dig it back out now 🙂

  5. This is a total winner for me. Super simple and the whole family would love it. Thanks so much for linking up with #recipeoftheweek. Sorry I was particularly slow getting over for this one. I’ve pinned it to my food board and tweeted 🙂

    1. It is exactly that. Mild tasting enough for everyone and so easy to prepare! Thanks for hosting 🙂
