We were recently sent a lovely new picture book, Snappy Birthday….
Snappy Birthday
One day an invitation
Came to number 24.
It was from a next-door neighbour
Who they’d never met before.
The children can’t wait – a birthday party? What fun! But their next-door neighbour is not all he seems. For starters, there’s his large snout and very sharp teeth. Not to mention his scaly skin . . . Yes, there’s no two ways about it, he’s definitely a CROCODILE. Erm, crocodiles don’t eat children, do they?
Publishes in paperback 15 January 2015, priced £6.99
This is a fun story that draws you in, and keeps you smiling and gasping….
This one makes us giggle. The illustrations are just brilliant, bright, colourful and with little details on each page that the children take in whilst I read to them. It’s a story that’s short enough to hold Little Man’s attention, at 2, and with enough peril in it to make 5 year old Boo want to listen, too! Now, I don’t want to offer up any spoilers here, but suffice it to say that cake saves the day – that has got to be a good moral to a story, hasn’t it?!
Disclosure: We received this book FOC for the purposes of this review, but all words and opinions remain my own.
