A Sunny Sandy Afternoon in Saundersfoot

We were recently fortunate enough to go on holiday to Bluestone, in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It’s a fabulous place to stay, and it’s in a wonderful location. We were also lucky enough to get a few sunny days while we were there, so were able to take the children to the beach and they had a brilliant time with their buckets and spades and paddling in the sea..

This has been the first time that we’ve visited the seaside in the sun. We live a long way from any beaches, so it can only ever be when we go on holiday. Every other photo that we have of the kids up until now on a beach involves them wearing wellies and coats and looking very windswept! It was a very welcome change and was a wonderful family afternoon.

Have you managed to get to the beach in this sunshine?

  2. Oh looks lovely!!! I am jel! I can’t wait to go away again. But this summer we are spending a week in the country so it will all be cow dung and smellyness! Glad you had fun xxx

  3. Pembrokeshire is so beautiful – I haven’t been since I was a child but must go back soon. Amazing castles too as I recall… We live about a two and a half hour drive from the nearest beach so I know what you mean!

  4. Lovely photos – you can’t beat a sunny day on the beach! Our kids are usually wearing swimwear while I shiver in my hoodie! We don’t go to the beach when we need wellies and coats though, it has to be at least 17 or 18 degrees for us to brave it!

Ah, but with a 4yo & 1yo they expect to go when they’re on holiday, rain or shine! Just lucky that we actually got the ‘shine’ this time!

  5. Yes, it’s hard getting to the sea where we are isn’t it. It’s only ever on holiday for us too. Having said that, we’ve been very lucky with the weather this year and had some great paddling days. I do love the sea-looks like a great beach x

It is nice to get lucky and get the weather for it, so I’m glad you’ve managed it, too 🙂

  6. What a wonderful beach! I feel very lucky to live by the sea now so we go to the beach a lot. Our nearest one is pebbly though so it still feels like a treat to have the sand between my toes! I don’t know how I coped being in London for so long to be honest… x

Ah, I’m the opposite, as I do love a bit of sunshine. Wellies are my usual attire, though!

  7. Those photos look so wonderful. Monkey has only been to the beach once in the sunshine, to Bournemouth last year and Hunstanton in November. I will definitely be taking his during the holidays, but only for the day sadly #whatsthestory

  8. Those photographs are amazing – the blue sky and horizon line are a beautiful pool of blue; picture-book like almost! We haven’t been to the seaside yet, and these last few weeks are been perfect weather to explore the British seaside. Hopefully the weather will stay gorgeous throughout the summer, when it’s our turn to explore. Looks like you had fun on your staycation!

  10. Oh wow Jocelyn, just wow! It sounds like you had the best time and just look at that amazing weather. Fabulous! I have fond memories of Pembrokeshire as I used to camp there as a child (in the rain mostly!), it’s a wonderful part of the world #whatsthestory
