It’s been a while since I chatted about our Bring Back Paper community and how it all works, so I thought I’d share a little update today for those of you who are new to it all.
Bring Back Paper has been running for many years now, originating here on this blog.
It started as a weekly blog series, as I shared anything papery each week, from books to stationery to pen pals and more.
These days it’s much more than that, it’s a community, it’s all of you.
We have people all over the world who are keen to indulge in their papery hobbies and people who have stumbled across us and like the idea of trying some of these things. It’s a place where likeminded people can connect.
From here, I focus a lot of my time on Bring Back Paper.
I continue to share a papery blog post every Wednesday, as I have done for years, so there’s plenty of content here to read through.
Then it’s grown quite a bit from the blog series.
There’s now a growing Bring Back Paper YouTube channel, something I’ve focused on more over the past couple of years. I like making my videos accessible to everyone, they’re not overly intricate crafts or designs, they’re thing that everyone can do and enjoy. I share things like ‘pen pal with me’, happy mail art, journal pages, incoming mail, books to read, stationery hauls and more. I upload there every Wednesday and more and more people are finding our community that way.
There’s an Etsy store selling pen pal printables, such as writing paper, mail tags and trackers, and everything over there is downloadable to ensure it’s available to everyone worldwide and easy to get and print off as many copies as you want.
We have a monthly book readalong to inspire regular reading choices, and there are monthly activities and swaps. I’ve just started running these from our Facebook group, as well as from my Instagram feed.
Our paper loving Facebook group has over 2.6k members as of today, and is a great place for chatting all things paper. Swaps are sometimes run from there, by me or by members, pen pal requests are popular there, and we talk about anything from favourite authors to fountain pens to calligraphy tips. It’s a lovely group, everyone’s welcome to join us.
Then there are our Patreon memberships. Members receive monthly printables, can opt in to the monthly Inspiration Challenge, ongoing pen pal sign up, get an Etsy store discount, and then many members also choose to be in the ‘All the Swaps’ tier so they can take part in themed papery swaps if they’d like to. There are new ones every month and members let me know if they’d like to take part. Recently, we’ve had a garden themed swap, a stamps and stickers stash swap and a spring themed swap. On top of these, there are tiers offering happy mail and stationery bundles. It’s the place to be if you like your paper!
That’s quite a bit, right?! And I’ve a few more ideas I’m working on currently, so do watch this space for more.
I feel like Bring Back Paper is really a ‘thing’ now, isn’t it?
I hope that many of you reading this feel a part of the BBP community. I hope that some of you have been inspired by it and it’s brought something new into your life. I hope that some of you have friendships because of it. And I hope that if you’re new here, you feel welcomed and this opens up a new world to you.
You are very welcome. Papery people want to find papery people. And I feel that there’s often a papery person inside of you that’s yet to emerge, so if that’s you, emerge with us. We’ve got you.
