I will not apologise for talking about Christmas already. I need to, as I need to get myself into gear.
I’m not sure whether this is early for you or late, I’m sure we’re all at different stages with it. For me, I have usually started making a few plans by now, lists will be springing up and I’ll have bought a couple of gifts. This year, nothing at all so far.
Hence this post, this is me working out what I need to do and it’s an attempt to spur me into action.
I have two things booked in so far, my Asda Christmas delivery slot and our Muppets Christmas Carol day. The latter is only booked as my sister-in-law is on it and asked for a date. Thanks!
So as I have quite a bit to do, I plan to list what I need to get done and then I will assign each of the next few weeks a task or two. This is how I usually work and it ensures that I enjoy the Christmas season and have fun with each of these things, rather than feeling that I am suddenly drowning in things I need to do.
I’m thinking this month will include:
Choosing Christmas cards and wrap
Booking in festive catch ups with friends
Writing gift lists for everyone we need to buy for
Getting Advent calendars
Planning a couple of Christmassy outings
Then in December:
Putting the tree and decorations up
Buying and wrapping gifts
Gifting those gifts
Writing and sending out cards
Ordering the food shopping
Having all the fun!
OK, that’s not too bad, I am on this. I might be working on it a bit later than I usually am, but there’s still loads of time so I’ll weave it into each week in the run up to the school holidays and everything should be done then.
I’ve seen that the Christmas films are already popping up over all of the channels and streaming platforms, so they’ll keep me company throughout my December tasks, and I’ll look forward to those and paying all the Christmas music. I like to wait until December for all of this, so they’ll be treats to enjoy then. Honestly, it feels like it was only just December, so I’m happy to wait another month before I indulge in all of this!
OK, I feel a bit better now I’ve got this written. It makes me feel as though Christmas is on my radar now, and once I get a list drawn up, things do start to happen!
How about you? Are you making festive plans?
Well done on getting started, I’ve ticked a few things off already. I aim to be finished by the end of November, I try and avoid all forms of shopping in person in the December madness. I like the idea of a Muppets Christmas Carol day that sounds fun.
I’m the same as you, I like to be finished by the end of this month, to avoid the madness and so I can just enjoy the countdown x
