The Readings Read – July

As I go on and on about reading a fair bit here, I thought I’d share with you our favourite books each month. So book recommendations for babies, preschoolers and adults here! I’m going to aim to very strict with myself and only choose one book for each of us each time, so feel free to remind me of this in a few months time if I’m attempting to sneak a few more in… 😉

So in July we loved:

postman bearLittle Man – Postman Bear by Julia Donaldson

He can’t get enough of it! He’s at that stage (nearly 11 months) where turning pages is endlessly fascinating to him, so add into that lift-the-flaps, and wow, he’s in his element!

Boo – Mad About Minibeasts by Giles Andreaemad about minibeasts

We had our bug hunt this month, and so she’s been particularly interested in this book since then…

austenlandMe – Austenland by Shannon Hale

I’ve only read 2 books this month (looking after children, running the business, launching a new blog and all that…!), and this one was my favourite. I read about it at Mama J Hearts, and being an Austen fan, though it’d be the kind of book I’d enjoy, and yes, I did!

The Husband – Nothing to Lose by Lee Childnothing to lose

You’ll spot a theme here. he’s basically working his way through the Jack Reacher books, so the chances are it’ll be a Lee Child book for him every month!

So what about you? Have you read these books, too? And I’d love to know, what have your family been enjoying reading this month?

  1. I’ve recently finished The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton, it was really good. It spanned over 3 different eras. I’m reading a crime drama by Lisa Gardner at the moment. Elizabeth is reading Spy Dogs!
