Do you know what I love most about my blog? The fact that I really can write about anything I like, and today, I want to write about Billy Joel!
As regular readers may know, the Husband and I went to see him at Wembley this month, the second time that we’ve seen him perform live. He is fabulous live.
For a performer with so many albums and hit songs, he can just blast out hit after hit, along with his wry chat in between tracks. I think there were 70,000 people at Wembley, he was on stage for two and a half hours with no support act, and he was superb.
Now you may be reading this thinking that you don’t even know any Billy Joel songs, or you may have Uptown Girl in your head on a loop? Or you think that I’m a crazed loon for going on about it? Yes, very possibly, but I am content here!
Anyhoo, I thought that I’d share my 10 favourite Billy Joel songs here, just because, in no particular order as I really cannot choose between some of them…
The Longest Time
My Life
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
Only the Good Die Young
It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me
Pianoman
The River of Dreams
You May Be Right
She’s Always a Woman
We Didn’t Start the Fire
I spent too much time making these decisions! Why did I go for an arbitrary top 10?!
What do you think? Do you like any of these? Do you even know any of these?! And yes, I am only in my late thirties, but he’s fairly current compared to my love for The Beatles… 😉
I think I said in my last letter that my fav songs have to include Scene From An Italian Restaurant and ITs All About Soul.
Excellent choices!
