Little Man is really into his transport at the moment, as many toddlers are. He loves it all, cars, planes, bikes, tractors, and he adores trains. Thomas the Tank Engine and visits to Thomasland fuel his love of them, along with his fabulous Brio tracks. We’ve been on fun trains, you know the small ones at family days out and theme parks and the like, but never a real one. A proper one that actually goes fast and takes us somewhere. Until now…
He LOVED it! As soon as we got on, he had to get out of his pushchair so he could position himself between Boo and Nanny ready for his journey. And he then alternated between looking out the window and nosing around the carriage. Every noise was exciting and when trains whizzed passed us the other way, he was beside himself!
It didn’t really matter where we were going, but we went into Birmingham to the Bull Ring shops, just a 20 minutes train ride away. While there, the kids had a snack stop of a gingerbread-man each, and we had a good look round The Entertainer, Build-A-Bear Workshop, and the Disney Store.
It was a lovely trip for them. I used to work in Brum and commuted daily on the train, but taking the kids and seeing it through fresh eyes made the mundane into the magical. It felt like a perfect day out, and yet it was nothing particularly special at all!
Oh, and while we were in the Disney Store, this happened…
Like I said, perfect day….
We are old hands at trains partly because when H was small my sister lived in the highlands of Scotland so train was the easiest way to get there. H has always enjoyed them though and it looks like you’ll be doing it again.
Ah, we’ve no real need to use them, but yes, we’ll definitely be doing it again!
Our boys are train crazy too and even though they are no longer toddlers, they still point out every train they spot x
There’s clearly an appeal with them!
How lovely! I remember how much my eldest in particular loved trains.
They loved it, thanks 🙂
Oh bless him, he looks so pleased with himself in that hat!! Glad the kids enjoyed their train adventure 🙂 #magicmoments
He did like that hat! They did, thank you 🙂
Even at 36 I still get excited to go on a train! Not too sure how excited I’d be wearing a Yoda hat though!! x
Oh, you’d love it!
Aww, how brilliant for him to experience going on a train when he’s still so intrigued by them. Love the hat, hope he enjoyed his day out, looks great in the Yoda Hat. Popping in from Magic Moments.
He absolutely loved it all, as did Boo, of course. I loved that hat 😉
Aww! That looks like a fab trip out….
That last photo made me chuckle! So cute x
Makes me smile, too 🙂
My children love journeys on trains, buses, planes – anything that’s not everyday I guess. Love the hat! #MagicMoments
Yes, exactly. Cars are OK, but nowhere near as exciting!
It is all such an adventure for them isn’t it? Lovely pictures and sounds like a great day x #MagicMoments
Yes, I love how every day things are magical with them x
Have to say my Joe loves nothing more than a trip on a train, he loves every part of it.
#Magicmoments
Such simple pleasures 🙂
Ah so cute! We are yet to take Monkey on a train but I bet he would love it too! What a cutie sat on the train and I LOVE the pic of him as yoda, so sweet! xx #magicmoments
They were both so excited about going, and were so cute sat there, eager to experience it! I did love that Yoda hat 😉 Thanks x
Lovely, and I love the hat! We have been discovering the joy of buses though little man does love a train ride-though I try and keep him in the pushchair as much as I can-with varying degrees of success! x #magicmoments
All of mine love the train! It’s only 15 minutes into Boston on the train from us, but the kids love every minute of it. Definitely a highlight of our outings 🙂 Love, love, love the last photo! #MagicMoments
It really made their day – I see many more train trips in our future! And thank you, I love it, too x
Oh I’m loving the photo of him at the end, sooooo cute! You will have passed our old house on that train journey-our garden backed on to the line 🙂
It passes by our old flat, too – lots of memories 🙂 And thank you, I do love him in that hat! X
aww what a super trip .. (i love yoda!)
