I’ve taken a look back and realised that these Bring Back Paper memberships have been running for several months now so I thought it would be a good idea to share an update on what’s been happening with them.
You can find out more about the Bring Back Paper memberships here if you’ve not seen anything about these before and wonder what I am going on about!
Bring Back Paper Memberships
In brief, the memberships are over on Patreon and are the next level up to the free Bring Back Paper stuff that I run here. So we have the Facebook group, monthly activities, blog and YouTube content and the book readalongs, available to everyone.
There are then the memberships for those who want to indulge in their love of paper that little bit more, whilst offering some support.
The memberships have a monthly activity that I share at the start of each month with a little video and then arrange for everyone.
There is also exclusive writing paper available to download monthly (I have fun creating these!), voting polls around content, an ongoing pen pal sign up, Etsy store discount and the happy mail parcels.
I have just sent out this month’s happy mail parcels to the tier 2 members, and the lucky dip tier 1 member. Here’s a little glimpse of them this month.
I vary the contents monthly, but they tend to include things such as paper, note cards, postcards, washi, wax, stickers, pens, bookmarks, that sort of thing. I enjoy putting them together and packaging them up.
The memberships are open internationally to anyone over 18, and the majority of the current members are from the US and UK.
The members tell me that they like being part of it, love the swaps and activities and it encourages them to be involved in this papery community. A few things they’ve said:
‘…I’m really enjoying the membership. I love the download illustrations because I’ve been able to use them all! And, I can download as many as I need at the time. I like that! I’m a member because I bought into the person, who you are, and what you represent…’
‘…it is fun to write to have pen pals and the swaps…’
‘…I love how The Reading Residence is different from other groups and pages…Jocelyn does an amazing job and you can tell she is very passionate about this…Her creativity, hard work, and kindness sure helps us feel positive as well!’
‘…I look forward to the monthly activities which always make me smile and give me a focus during these uncertain times. I upgraded my membership after being the winner of the ‘Happy Mail’ earlier this year and I am so pleased I did. I have received the most beautiful stickers and papers which have added to my stash and which I have used to write to my new penpals from the ongoing sign up. ‘
I love the Bring Back Paper Memberships, and it’s great to see people enjoying them. I had had ideas around this floating around my head for months, years even, before I launched them. And on launch I was equal parts excited, equal parts nervous!
I decided to just go for it. I found Patreon and I like using it as it’s easy for both me and the members to use. The central concepts were around doing something more around papery things, and then the option for happy mail goodies monthly, so this ties both of those ideas in. I then added in the writing paper, polls, sign up and discount as extra perks on top.
These past few months have been a learning curve for me and I have enjoyed getting everything set up and running, I think, smoothly. Now that they are working well, I can focus my efforts on creating more monthly fun and growing them even more. I am looking forward to it!
What do you think? Let me know if you have any questions about the memberships or any feedback, always happy to hear from you.
