Reading has always been one of my favourite things to do in the world. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of other things I love to do, too, but I guess if someone asked me to name one thing I love, it’d be reading that I’d mention first.
It’s the constant.
I read when I was little, through my teen years and now as an adult, it’s unusual for me to not have a book on the go.
Over the past decade or so, I’ve kept a book journal so I know roughly how many books I read a year, I track what I have read, what I have enjoyed.
Over those years, I tend to read a similar amount, anywhere between 60-80 books a year, fiction that is.
I rarely have complete reading slumps, and if I do, I know how to get out of those.
I pick up certain authors or genres that ensure I’ll be sucked in quickly, or I re-read some old favourites. Either way tends to work for me, and before I know it, I’m back to reading regularly again.
Then there are those times when ‘reading regularly’ doesn’t quite cover it. When most of my free time is taken up be reading, when I’m on a reading roll.
This is where I am today and I am loving it.
I have read a lot of books over the past few weeks, and I have added a lot of books to my TBR pile. Both have been fun to do.
I don’t know how long it’ll last, maybe I’ll be back to reading four or five books a month again soon, but until then, I am enjoying the roll.
When you’re on a reading roll you have fun adding to your To Be Read pile because you know you’ll soon be getting round to those new books.
When you’re on a reading roll the book you’re reading pops into your head randomly throughout the day.
When you’re on a reading roll you look forward to having the time to grab a few minutes with your book.
When you’re on a reading roll you might find yourself grabbing everything an author has ever written, wanting to immerse yourself in their imaginary worlds.
When you’re on a reading roll you always have somewhere to disappear to at the end of each day.
When you’re on a reading roll, life feels that little bit lighter.
When was the last time you were on a reading roll?

I absolutely love reading and do read every morning for about 15-20 mins before getting up. How do you carve out reading time? I’d love to read more but could do with some pointers as to how!
What a great way to start your day! For me, I read whenever I don’t need to be doing anything else, so as long as I’m not working, exercising, studying, parenting, socialising, doing chores/errands etc., I’m probably reading. When I’m reading loads, I watch no TV, no phone scrolling, carry a book around with me always and read past my bedtime!
