We’ve been enjoying a new creative toy here, thanks to the team at TOMY. We have received a Classic Aquadoodle, so have been putting it to the test.

The Aquadoodle arrives in a box with the mat and the pen. There is no need to assemble anything, get batteries or follow instructions. It’s nice and simple to get going with so for that it immediately gets a thumbs-up from me. All that you need to do is fill the pen with water and you’re good to go.

The mat needs only water to activate all of the colours and the letters and numbers around the edges. The mat is divided into four differently coloured segments and the letters and numbers are clear and easy to trace over.

The children are colouring in, drawing and mark-making, but with just water. This is a no-mess way for them to get creative and for Little Man to practice his writing in a really fun and exciting way. I say Little Man as it’s aimed at 18 months and up, but to be honest, 6 year old Boo has been enjoying it too and they both like to use it together.

When they have finished playing, I simply leave it and it all dries out again ready to use next time. It folds neatly up, so takes up little room and is easy to store.

The kids love this, as do I. It’s easy to set up, they enjoy it, it has educational value, there’s no mess or anything to tidy up after they’ve finished and it takes up next to no space in their playroom. Seriously, what’s not to love?!
