Today I want to share with you a few of our favourite winter warmer easy recipes. These are those go-to easy meals, bakes and desserts that I can throw together quickly and I know they will always be a hit with my family.
I like cooking from scratch, and knowing every single item that has gone into our family meal. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t do it every day, we do have freezer meals and takeaways too, but I love to check out new recipes and find the ones that everyone enjoys.
These are some of those recipes, the recipes that are very much tried and tested here, and I do hope that some of you give them a go and enjoy them too. Do let me know if you do!
Onto those winter warmer recipes…
Leek and Potato Soup
Let’s begin with a sure-fire hit that is super easy to make.
When I think of winter food, soup is one of the first meals that always pops into my mind.
It’s usually packed with vegetables so you know it’s good for you and it’s always going to warm you up.
Add some crusty bread or toast and this is the ultimate in cosy winter food.

Easy Rice Pudding
Oh, how I love rice pudding!
I’ve enjoyed rice pudding since I was a child, so I was keen to introduce it to my two.
My daughter loved it straightaway, but my son wasn’t keen. Not the end of the world, more for my girl and I! But…then my son decided he does like it, so we have to share it three ways now. Sigh.

Banana Loaf
Now, on the off chance you didn’t bake lots of banana loaf during lockdown, I have a recipe here for you to try!
This was actually one of my earliest and most popular blog posts, and I think it’s because it is so simple to bake.
I cannot tell you how many times I have made this banana loaf, it’s one of those recipes that I don’t even need to look at any more, I know it so well.
The kids love this as a snack, so I like to make it pretty regularly.

In addition to these recipes, I’d recommend this family cookbook:
It’s the one that I am using most often at the moment, and there are lots of recipes that we love in it.
Our current favourites are the lasagne with smoky bacon, simple beef curry and the bacon and mozzarella pasta bake.
And now, having written a post about some of my favourite comfort foods, I feel the need to go and make one of these!
Which one appeals to you the most?
