Word of the Week 1/4/16

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

Yorkshire

And no surprises for guessing that that’s because we’ve been in Yorkshire! Yes, we’ve had ourselves a little break away, as you’ll no doubt have worked out if you’ve spotted my Instagram feed this week.

When we visited York last summer, we were determined to come back and explore more of the area, and it has not disappointed. We took out English Heritage membership last month, so we’ve been exploring plenty of historic sites around the area, as well as visiting the beautiful city of York once more. We’ve been to the seaside, we’ve shopped, we’ve been to the playground (it’s pretty much all the kids need, I think!) and had lots of delicious meals out. It’s been lovely all being together for the week, though I have to say I’m happy to be home and in my own bed again!

We’ve enjoyed our break and have fallen in love with this county. No doubt we will be back.

York Minster

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

Please grab the badge, link up and share.

Linky opens at 6.30am Friday, to midnight on Sunday.

  1. Love that photo – Boo and Little Man look so tiny! So glad that you’ve had a lovely time away – I’ve never visited York (there’s no gold postbox there!) but it’s on my list of places to visit. Hope you have a lovely weekend and thanks for hosting #WotW 🙂

    1. They were smiling so much, too, you just can’t see their smiles in that shot!! Oh yes, do visit, it’s gorgeous x

  2. Hi Jocelyn, I remember my parents going to York many moons ago an saying what an interesting place it was. The photo of the cathedral in your post (or church) looks quite impressive. It sounds as if you have been making the most of your English Heritage membership too.

    Thank you for hosting.

    xx

    1. It is interesting there, and yes that’s York Minster, a cathedral – huge! We have been, having visited a fair few sites now, all fascinating to me and great places for the kids to run and explore x

  3. Went to York years ago – pre kids! had a brilliant time 🙂 Glad you had a lovely holiday. It’s always nice to come home though 🙂

  5. So glad you all had such a lovely time in Yorkshire! It really is nice to get back home to ones bed after time away, isn’t it? It’s been ages since we were last in York. I think it’s about time we took the girls for a visit so that they can walk on the wall.xx #wotw

  6. I’ve been enjoying your photos – hope you’ve had a fab time. It’s a part of the world I’ve been to very few times, but when I have been I’ve wanted to go back. And I really should! Thanks for hosting x

  7. Yorkshire is such a beautiful county, I live in Lancashire which is also such a stunning place, the countryside is just breathtaking I really do feel luck to live in the countryside. One place I haven’t explored nearly enough is York and Harrogate they are on my ever growing wish list x
