Word of the Week 16/3/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

Yes, I know that that’s two words, but they do really need to go together!

This week Harry Potter has dominated, which has been great. It started with us watching some vlogs of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios with the kids, and we have all been getting excited about going. We’ve spotted that they have interactive wands there that the children are now keen to get as they can then ‘perform magic’, wow!

As you know, the Husband and I had the day together last Friday which we spent holiday shopping and managed to pick up Harry Potter tops for the kids and I (the Husband’s not such a fan!). We had a lovely day, thanks for the anniversary well wishes.

We also managed to pick up a Gryffindor notebook for Little Man which he absolutely adores, especially as Boo already has a few Harry Potter notebooks. As such, he’s taken to writing in it each day (usually about Harry Potter) and I have been amazed by how much his enthusiasm for writing and his ability has come on over the last week or two, it’s lovely to see. Seems it was a well-timed stationery purchase, getting it to him at just the right time as his teacher tells me he’s shown great improvements over this month.

Then of course there have been the films. We started watching them at the weekend and have been continuing with them after school each day. I am enjoying watching them again just as much as the kids are, as they have watched some of them for the first time. Ah, I do love Harry!

All of this has meant that Little Man and Boo have got their wands and cloaks out, and we’ve had to complete online quizzes to check on our Hogwarts house – just so you know, Little Man and the Husband are Gryffindor, Boo is Hufflepuff and I’m Ravenclaw. You needed to know, right?!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

Please grab the badge, link up and share…

  1. Wow, you really are all big Harry Potter fans ! The last time I visited Universal they were just starting to build the Harry Potter part so I’ve never been. It does look amazing and I bet you will have an amazing time. I can’t wait to watch the films with the kids, I think they might be interested enough by Halloween this year so I’m planning a potterathon for then. Have a lovely weekend x

    1. We do like him! I can see us spending many hours in that Wizarding World, don’t know how I’ll manage to get the kids out of there! That’ll be fab, have fun! x

  2. Of course you need to know which house you’re in – I’m a Hufflepuff also, like Boo.
I love hearing all about how you’re getting in the holiday spirit, especially with the whole family involved; it’s lovely! A wonderful weekend to you all.

    1. Today Little Man has gone to school in his cloak, wand in hand (he earned a privilege yesterday so gets to wear what he wants today) and he is so happy! Thanks x

  3. We had a bit of Harry Potter yesterday as Star was rewarded at school for good behaviour with a Pizza and Potter day! She’s not been that interested in Harry Potter before, even though I’ve watched all the films. Maybe she’ll pick up on of the books now. Thanks for hosting x

  4. Yep… my young teen is into the Harry Potter books and checking out which HP house she was in. She has a badge too that somehow sneaks onto her school blazer against her ‘real’ house badge.
Sounds like you will have an amazing time on your visit. Wands ahoy!

  5. I do love a little HP. Playing with wizarding wands sounds fun. It’s odd seeing how the main characters grow through the films and how they look now outside of the plays too. Thanks for hosting #WotW

  6. Arghhh I adore Harry Potter and The W,W,O,H,P is just incredible it is everything you can imagine and more I so want to visit again I was tearful when I walked down Diagon Alley its so magical x
