Word of the Week 21/9/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

I am feeling reinvigorated this week.

Over the weekend I spent a few hours indulging in some me-time, learning a completely new skill. I think it’s so good for the soul to do this. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it has given me a fresh new hobby to develop, which I am excited about. I shared all about it a couple of days ago, An Introduction to Modern Calligraphy. The shocker for me is that I can actually do it! And it looks so very pretty.

I have also attended my second yoga class, which might not sound like a big deal, but having never done it before, it’s good to get out and do this. It’s something I have been meaning to try for ages, and I do mean years. So it’s good to finally be getting round to it, and I think a little bit like the calligraphy workshop, it’s good to do something just for me. And in this case something good for me. It’s only an hour a week a few minutes away from me, and it’s nice to be able to see one of my friends there each week as we used to see a lot of each other, so it’s great to catch up weekly, albeit briefly around stretches!

Speaking of things that are good for me, I have got the My Fitness Pal back on my phone, yes I am back at it. It means I am thinking more about what I am choosing to eat each day, and balancing that with needing to move more. This app has worked very well for me in the past, as it enables me to feel in control of my nutrition and health so that I don’t ever think I am dieting or depriving myself of foods I want, I am simply making educated choices with each meal. I’m already feeling better for it.

This has also been the first week since the kids went back to school that I feel I have worked properly and with bags of enthusiasm. I took the day off mid-week to spend a few hours with my mum and I want to do this regularly as it was great to do and a needed break from the screen. And overall I have felt busy. I have felt creative. I have felt determined. I have felt reinvigorated. It’s been good.

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

  1. Oh I’m so glad to hear you speak so positively about your week! It’s great that you have found two new things to do that you really enjoy, but that also bring you benefit in some way. I know what you mean about the mid week break from the screen. I put my latptop down altogether yesterday around lunch as I’d had my nose in it for far too long! Have a lovely weekend 🙂 #WotW

  2. Sounds like you’ve had a really positive week. How lovely to be trying some new things and enjoying them. Calligraphy is something I’d love to try and it does look so pretty. The My Fitbess Pal app sounds like a good way of helping make better choices with fitness and nutrition. Hope you have a good weekend and thank you for hosting #WotW

  3. You are so right to build in time to do something for you. I really need to buckle down in do the same. New skills are good for the brain, if nothing else. Calligraphy would be a wonderful skill to have and fits perfectly with your love of paper. You sound like you are finding your rhythm this term.

  4. That sounds so good, what a great two hobbies to have. I used to love Yoga, but I’ve only dabbled a little in calligraphy. You do sound invigorated indeed.
    Thanks for hosting x

  5. You sound so much more positive this week which is fantastic ! I will take a look at that app as this is an area I definitely need to improve. I’ve felt the same this week after a few unproductive weeks, feels good to finally be inspired doesn’t it, long may it continue. Have a great weekend Jocelyn x

    1. I absolutely swear by that app, it’s the only thing I’ve ever stuck to and have found has worked. It does feel good, glad you are, too x
