Word of the Week 28/9/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

If you spotted my post earlier this week, this word will come as no surprise to you at all. As I explained there, Mrs Hinch has given me the cleaning bug.

It’s a funny one to explain. I have always taken a certain amount of satisfaction in cleaning, and my home is always tidy as I struggle to function surrounded by mess and clutter, but this is a whole new level now! I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed shopping for cleaning products, until now. And I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed cleaning, until now.

Over the past week I have bought so much to clean with. You know it’s at an unusual level when your husband calls you from Poundland to let you know that they have Zoflora in stock, and which scents do you want?! I have cleaned my cleaning cupboard out and rearranged it all so that it’s now all organised for me to grab and get everything done. And yes, I have been cleaning. A lot. I have been thinking about cleaning a lot, too much to be honest. Which is why mid-week I added a cleaning log to my bullet journal so that I no longer think about it – if it’s written down it is out of my head! I have even been talking cleaning. I am most certainly not alone on this one, so I have enjoyed chatting about cleaning with a school run friend – she’s even got herself a Shark this week – if you know, you know!

So yes, an unexpected surge in interest this week, but I have enjoyed it nonetheless. And now, I best be off, things to clean…!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

Please grab the badge, link up and share…

  1. Haha I’ve caught the bug too!! Surprisingly I already had a lot of the products that Mrs Hinch uses but have never really enjoyed cleaning before. Earlier this week I scrubbed my washing machine detergent drawer with a toothbrush. I’m officially a hincher! (I would buy a stewart, but the toothbrush cost me 15p so I opted for the frugal alternative). Once my cold clears up I’m attacking the bathroom!! #WotW

  2. Your week sounds similar, but different from mine at the same time. I’ve taken the less cleaning route, but more efficient than I have been. We all need to find that happy balance. I’m glad you’ve found yours.

    Thanks for hosting.

  3. I find cleaning very therapeutic and you can always tell how miserable I am by how clean my house is, haha. I can’t do a lot of stuff now and I get incredibly frustrated, especially when I think others should notice things like I do. Getting the cleaning bug is nice for a while, but it’s easy to get carried away. Thankfully, I already had a stash of Zoflora before Mrs Hinch got popular 🙂
    Thanks for hosting x

    1. You wise woman!! You can get carried away, which is why I have my log now so that I just do a certain amount each day and then crack on with work – it’d be easy to clean all day!

  4. I found Mrs Hinch back in August and she’s really motivated me to give things a really good deep clean. It’s amazing how much one person can motivate you isn’t it. It sounds like you’ve been having great fun cleaning, it makes you feel so much better doesn’t it. Have a great weekend x

  5. Ha ha this is so funny, we had a big kitchen clear out a couple of weeks ago and felt so much better, I so need to organise my wardrobe next. My house is spotless on the outside but i tend to fill cupboards so am having a major clear out x
