Word of the Week 5/10/18

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

It’s been gifts all the way this week.

It was Boo’s 9th birthday on Wednesday so I have been wrapping gifts, enjoying watching her open gifts and then attempting to find homes for the new gifts in her bedroom. She had a great day and was so happy with all of her presents. It really has summed up the week as she’s had a birthday spanning the whole week! She started opening gifts last Friday when she saw my brother and his wife, and then she had her birthday treat over the weekend taking her and her best friend to Build a Bear (yet another gift) and for pizza, and of course she received a gift from her friend. She then had more from her grandparents over the weekend and the trend has continued through the week. She’s done very well!

As well as my daughter, I have been arranging gifts for other people. I have bought and wrapped a present for a friend next week, I have sent an ‘in memory’ rose over to my friend as she has lost her dad, I have planned my sister-in-law’s birthday gifts and we have been chatting about what to get my mother-in-law for her special birthday next month.

And lastly, yes still on gifts, I have started that list off. That ‘C’ word list. I always start jotting down a few things once the kids’ birthdays are both over. There is now a page in my bullet journal devoted to gift ideas, so that I can note things down as and when they occur to me. I might even have bought one or two when I spotted a fab offer on some things that my son wants. I’m not normally this early, but it was a good deal so I couldn’t resist!

So it’s been a week of buying gifts, wrapping gifts, giving gifts and thinking about gifts for me!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

Please grab the badge, link up and share…

  1. I’m aiming to sort out my Christmas shopping this month too! I don’t have too many gifts to buy this year so hopefully it doesn’t take me too long to pull them together! You’re sound so organised with all the birthdays and it sounds like your daughter really enjoyed hers 🙂 #WotW

  2. Happy Birthday to Boo ! it sounds like she had an amazing time, what a lucky girl. I love choosing gifts for people more than I like receiving them I think, it sounds like you more than prepared for the Christmas buying frenzy. Have a great weekend x

    1. Thank you! Yes, it’s fun to think about the perfect gifts for people, I was nearly as excited as Boo as I wanted to see her reactions to her presents! x

  3. Happy 9th birthday to Boo! It sounds like she’s had a lovely birthday week. Sorry for your friend’s loss. The ‘in memory’ rose is a lovely gift – we had several roses given to us after Jessica died and my rose garden is now thought of as being ‘Jessica’s garden’. You’re very organised on the Christmas gifts – I never really start to think about it until after Sophie’s birthday at the end of October. Thanks for hosting #WotW

  4. I’m glad Boo had a lovely birthday. I’ve started Christmas shopping, in fact I have two laptops sitting upstairs for the girls. I didn’t intend on buying them something so expensive but I saw a fantastic bargain and couldn’t resist. They are going to have a real surprise when they see them. I will need to test them out though having bought them so early.
    Thanks for hosting x

  5. What a fun week. Happy birthday Boo. I still have a few more birthdays to go, but I have started making lists and putting ideas together. It is all part of the fun. I’ll have to admit, I’m concentrating on Halloween at the moment. Hope next week is just as fun for you.
