Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!
If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.
My word of the week this week is:
How can we already be coming to the end of the school holidays? Those six weeks have flown by, and as I say every year at this time, I want them back!
This week we’ve returned from a wonderful holiday, had a leisurely and sunny long weekend and then spent the rest of the week catching up with friends and family. It’s been good. And always in the background, there’s been anticipation hanging in the air.
The anticipation of school next week, back to Year 3 for Boo and a start in Reception for Little Man. We’re all set, we have everything we need, I just hope my boy has fun there and settles happily.
With the back to school anticipation, is my back to university anticipation. When the kids return I will be able to get cracking on this year and my final modules. The materials have arrived and look interesting, so I am keen to get started.
Then there’s Little Man’s excited anticipation. Not for school, that’s not really on his horizon, as he has more important things to think about – his birthday! Yes, he’ll be five this Sunday and this week he’s been counting down his sleeps until the big day and gifts and cards have been arriving heightening his excitement! We’re all really looking forward to a weekend of family, fun and celebrations, a great way to end a lovely summer break.
After that, I have a chore-list as long as my arm – from cleaning to organising the playroom to taking the car in for replacement parts to sorting things for Boo’s arty next month – I will at least be nice and busy!
What about you? What one word sums up your week best?
Please grab the badge, link up and share…
Linky opens at 6.30am Friday, to midnight on Sunday.

The summer has certainly flown by at lightening speed, I think this year has gone super fast too so far. You sound like you are organised and prepared for the new school year, I just need to label everything. Have a fantastic weekend x
It really has, we must be getting old! Ah, have fun labelling! x
The summer holidays have certainly flown by haven’t they? I would quite like those six weeks back again too! Hope Little Man has a wonderful birthday on Sunday and good luck for the start of school next week. Thanks for hosting #WotW
Too fast! Thanks very much x
How exciting for your Little Man, birthdays are always fun 🙂 I hope his school start goes well, he’ll be the oldest in the class starting when he’s five! If Star had been born on her actual birth date she would have been the oldest in the class, now she’s the youngest. I hope next week goes really smooth and I’ll look forward to hearing all about it. I don’t mean to make you jealous but we have another two weeks of holiday to go!
I know, I am happy that he’s an old one! Thanks very much, and yes, I am now totally jealous!
My son will be in Year 3 too! He is so excited and yet doesnt want to go back yet hehe.
Yes, I get that!
This summer really has flown over…I can’t believe the kids go back to school next week. I’m dreading it.
I bet your little man is so excited. For school and his birthday. Bless him! I hope he has a fab time. x
He’s a lot more excited for his birthday than school! Thanks x
What a great way to look forward to what’s coming. Way better than with dread!!
Have a fabulous weekend, Jocelyn!
XOXO

It’s the best way! x
You sound so ready, good luck to your boy starting reception X #wotw
We are ready, I just want a few more weeks, though! Thanks x
Happy Birthday to Little Man, how can he be five already? Hope he has a great day and Boo’s return to schoo and his starting school go okay x
Oh, I know! Thank you x
Ha ha that made me smile, Joe’s birthday is the end of September and he is already thinking of it. And I am also looking forward to exciting times and new ventures for the next year ahead. September always feels like a new year doesn’t it ? x
I know what you mean, and I much prefer September to actual new year. Our boys do like their birthdays! x
