Word of the Week 22/12/17

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

It has definitely been a week of countdowns!

First we had my daughter’s Christmas carol service and she has been counting down the days until she could perform and give her reading. She absolutely loved every minute of it and we were very proud of her.

Then a not-so-nice countdown was for me to the dentists. A troublesome tooth had been playing up so I popped in Friday to be told that it might need to be removed at my appointment on Tuesday. Not nice! So as you can imagine, I was counting down to that appointment, just wanting to get it over and done with. Fortunately, at this stage she has managed to fill it with a view to crowning it, though it may need to come out at some point if it starts playing up – please don’t play up, tooth!

My other countdown was around my university work as with two assignments due in the week that the kids return to school in the new year, I was keen to get them finished. They have both now been submitted, so I can relax for our break.

Then the Husband has been counting down to finishing work for a little over a week, and hooray, he’s now at home! We’re off for a meal together today before picking the kids up from school as they finish this afternoon, yet another countdown moment.

Then there’s the obvious one, the biggie. Yes, the kids are very, very excited about Christmas, and as their Advent calendars empty, their excitement levels fill up! Ah, it’s a lovely countdown to have, and we’re nearly there now.

Which just leaves me to say that I hope you all have a fabulous Christmas!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

  2. I love the countdowns at this time of year. So many fun events to look forward to. Not the dentist though. The children had their check ups this week. All went well. I hope your tooth doesn’t play up. Hope you all have a wonderful (pain free) Christmas, and thank you for hosting.

  3. I’m glad to hear you didn’t lose your tooth, I had a dicey moment earlier this year with a baby tooth of mine it’s still hanging on in there although not intact ! Our week has been pretty much the same, waiting for everyone to finish so we can start the Christmas holidays properly. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas x

  4. You have had so many countdowns…It sounds like you have a lovely week, apart from the dentist visit.
Well done your girl! Mine did a reading at her carol concert too and she felt so pleased with herself. I was very proud.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas x
