Word of the Week 29/9/17

Hello and welcome to Word of the Week!

If you’re new here, Word of the Week is a nice and simple weekly linky, with everyone welcome to pop by and share. You reflect back on the past week and sum it up in one word. Then share your word with us in a blog post, with as little or as much explanation as you like. It’s a fun and friendly linky, so please do be lovely and visit as many of the other blogs as you can and share with them your thoughts on their words and weeks. I do comment on every entry to the linky, and if you add the Word of the Week badge to your post to help spread the ‘word’, I also tweet them out.

My word of the week this week is:

This week we have been on weather watch all week! This weekend it’s Boo’s Go Ape party, so we’ll be outside. She cannot wait, and I am so looking forward to seeing her and her friends having fun, I’d just really like it to be relatively dry fun! The weather’s not looking good at this point, but we’ll keep everything crossed that it won’t put a dampener on the day anyway. We’re going to be up in the treetops and then on a nature trail before ending the party in the woodland play area. She’ll have fun no matter what, I’m sure. Aside from the weather and the anticipation of our forest adventure, there’s been plenty more ‘nature’ in our week…

Over the weekend we had an enjoyable trip out to the National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham. I’m a blogger ambassador for them this year so we can go regularly, and still we seem to spot something new each time. The highlight this time was seeing Bev the giant octopus, she was right there at the front of the tank for us to see, Boo was absolutely fascinated. I always love the jellyfish, too, so relaxing to watch.

Mid-week I met up with a good friend at the Botanical Gardens in Birmingham to celebrate her birthday. It was a lovely few hours spent meandering around the gardens, taking in the changing colours and many plants and trees they have there.

Yesterday my mum and I indulged in a rather delicious afternoon tea at a local garden centre. Cakes and plants, what a combination, we were very content!

In between outings, I have been out in my garden. I’ve been enjoying seeing autumn changes out there, though I’m also pleased by the amount of colour and flowers still blooming. I think it’ll still be another three to four weeks before I get out there and cut things back and have a tidy up before the colder months set in.

Even the studying I mentioned last week has revolved around nature as I finished my English Literature assignment, a piece comparing two poems about bears. I actually enjoyed it once I’d started it, which was a nice surprise!

What about you? What one word sums up your week best?

  1. That sounds like a very nature inspired week. I love the botanical gardens and the sea life centre. I hope Boo has a fantastic party and birthday and that the rain holds off for you all x Happy Birthday Boo!

  2. We’re hoping for good weather this weekend too. The Teen is off on her DofE expedition. Camping and walking out on the moors would be easier if its not pelting down. Hope Boo’s party goes well. I still have Go Ape on my list to do. Your garden sounds lovely. I need to add more colour to mine for next year.

    1. Fingers crossed she’ll get a dry trip then and it goes well. Thanks, she adores Go Ape. I love the splashes of colour out there, makes for a pretty September x
